Geriatric Rehabilitation for older patients with COPD; integration of rehabilitation and palliative care

The central aim of this thesis was to investigate whether developing and implementing a specific geriatric rehabilitation program for older patients with severe COPD that also integrates palliative care aspects, the GR_COPD program, is both feasible and effective.\n\nBased on the results of the work presented in this thesis we conclude that the GR_COPD program is needed, is feasible, and shows beneficial effects on disease-specific health status and exacerbation rate, in older patients with COPD hospitalized for an acute exacerbation. \n\nThese results imply that the GR_COPD program should be available to all patients within this specific group.
